Help Make Helen Ukpabio Face Justice

Target: President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, Inspector-General of Police Sir Mike Mbama Okiro
Sponsored by:

As concerned members of the Nigerian and International community, we have been watching in great horror the activities of Evangelist Helen Ukpabio for some time now.

After having noted the recent great damage done to Nigeria's reputation by this false prophet's un-Christian teachings, we now feel that we have no option but to call upon the Nigerian Federal Government, Inspector General of Police, Akwa Ibom State Government and Cross River State to act to prevent any further embarrassment being caused. We believe that the recent attacks of innocent NGO staff and children at the CRARN children's centre were orchastrated by Mrs Ukpabio in an attempt by her to deflect criticism of her and her church's role in the labeling of children as witches, an act which has led to the widepread abuse of child rights taking place in the South-South region. Such violent abuse and labelling of innocent children is clearly an abuse of the Child Rights Act (2004) and, as such, we therefore call for the following:

1/ Urgent in-depth investigations into the recent attack on the CRARN centre and the activities of Evangelist Mrs Helen Ukpabio and Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries to take place for breaches of the recently enacted Child Rights Act, which makes it illegal for children to be labeled as witches.

2/ Closure of all churches found to be labeling children as witches through deliverance or other methods. 3/ Seizure of all assets and illegal wealth of all false prophets such as Helen Ukpabio and redistribution of such funds to rehabilitate the victims of child witch stigmatisation.

4/ Successful prosecution of all pastors and parents found to be labeling children as witches.

We do not wish for the world to continue to focus on Nigeria with negative press and we do appreciate that you continue to monitor the response to the child witch crisis in Nigeria. We wish to encourage you to do everything in your power to fight such perpetrators of evil and uphold the rights of Nigeria's children.

Please take time to sign Help Make Helen Ukpabio Face Justice. This is in response to the recent campaign of terror that was inflicted upon the staff and children at the CRARN center in Eket, Nigeria and the legal cases that have been sponsored by Helen Ukpabio to make Stepping Stones Nigeria and CRARN face false charges of fraud and "threat to life".
Please do show your support and sign this petition. If you could also forward to any other contacts around the world that would be wonderful. Previous petitions have significantly helped us with our campaign to protect and promote the rights of so-called child witches in Nigeria.
Please do not be cynical about such petitions. We really can use them to affect positive change! Justice For Gabby

Target: District Attorney of Cape Giradeau, Missouri
Sponsored by: Amelia Irish

I would like to ask every one to imagine going to pick up your child from day care, only to find out that she is not right, rushing to the hospital to be told many things are yet to come. Her Family by her side watching her head swell, new bruising appearing by the minute, and yet almost 3 years later her family is still fighting for justice. This innocent little baby was harmed by the very people paid to take care of her.

http://www.myspace.com/prayersloveforgabby Her name is Gabrielle. She has been forced to start a life long battle. In July 2006,she attended a daycare center in Cape Giradeau, Mo. While being there she was attacked by an individual. At 6 months old, Gabby was left with permanent life threatening injuries. Only an adult could cause such force upon this innocent little child. She had a starburst fracture in her skull & was hanging on for her dear life while more bruising appeared as the day went on. Along by her side was her savior, Grandma Treasa & all her family. Gabby went through 6 surgeries trying to fight to stay alive. She fought hard and pulled through all of those battles. Yet, the individual that has caused her & her family all of this pain & suffering has not been brought to justice. As of this present day 2008, Gabby is faced once again to fight for her life. Gabby is experiencing tremendous seizure activity in her brain. The meds that she is currently on are not working and the doctor's are concerned about Grand Mal seizures. She is now on stronger meds & will be monitored 24/7 She may have to be admitted for observation once again in St.Louis. Her doctor's have stated that brain injuries are very unpredictable. So why in the world isn't this sick person in jail at least! Why is he out on the streets doing as he pleases while Gabby & family are suffering through this awful time someone has placed upon them. They didn't ask for this. He choose to harm & hurt her. He should be brought to justice! At only 3 years old she is on her fourth brain surgery and now the family is being told that because a doctor failed to pin point an exact time that this occured there is no way to convict. I say there must be a way. There must be some thing that can be done. Please if we stand as one voice, we can make a big difference for this innocent child who was assulted, and because she had no voice of her own they will walk. Please join me in urging the District attorney to stand up on her behalf and help to do exactly all that is neccesary to bring this person to justice, for the sake of the family and all the children who suffer unwillingly at the hands meant to care for them. Time will run out faster then we think. We must act quickly.
We the undersighned, Would like to address the lack of attention in the case concerning young Gabrielle (last name withheld) day care abuse case. We feel that this really deserves more attention and concentration. We must find justice for this young girl and her family, we must stand against the guilty and let them know we will not be silenced because her voice could not be heard! We are uniting to speak on behalf of all that is being ignored and letting this child suffer with out justice. If you could please take a closer look at this case, rexamine the evidence and attempt to bring the accused to justice. We would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

Akwa-Ibom Child Witches: So Far, Not Yet Uhuru

Children in almost all African cultures are bundles of joy that societies often impatiently await their arrivals. The eagerness to have these wondrous creatures, most often than not, has selfish undertone (that of preserving the traditions and cultures as well as family legacies to be imbibed in them). The arrival of new born babies, into families, is therefore seen as a way of guaranteeing the going entity of such families. But when bundles of joy suddenly turns into bundles of sorrow, then I think the cause needs to be searched. Hence many global citizens are today concerned about the fate of African children passing through horrific times simply because someone thinks they are witches.

Children Learn What They Live (2005)

If a child lives with criticism, he learns to feel discouraged

If a child lives with hostility, he learns to feel angry

If a child lives with violence, he learns to feel afraid

If a child lives with dishonesty, he learns to feel suspicious

If a child lives with judgement, he learns to feel guilty

If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to feel ashamed

If a child lives with disorder, he learns to feel confused

If a child lives with disappointment, he learns to feel helpless

If a child lives with silence, he learns to feel lonely

BUT

If a child lives with protection, he learns to feel safe

If a child lives with honesty, he learns to feel trustful

If a child lives with peace, he learns to feel calm

If a child lives with sharing, he learns to feel thankful

If a child lives with understanding, he learns to feel encouraged

If a child lives with laughter, he learns to feel happy

If a child lives with creativity, he learns to feel inspired

If a child lives with choice, he learns to feel free

If a child lives with community, he learns to feel supported

If a child lives with accomplishment, he learns to feel confident

If a child lives with meaning, he learns to feel fulfilled

If a child lives with love, he learns to feel tender
